Measuring the Screw Length for a Post Bound Cover

  1. Put your pages inside the covers

  2. Hold down firmly

  3. Hold a ruler flat to the spine and read measurement

  4. Screw length will be the same as measurement or 1mm smaller (bigger will be too loose)

  5. You may need to use bases & extensions to make up the correct size

If you don’t have your pages use the following formula. This is a rough estimate- all paper stocks differ in thickness no matter the gsm. To be certain ask your printer to physically measure a stack of the paper you are using.

  1. Divide your gsm by 1000

  2. Multiple by your page number

  3. Add your cover thickness

Example: measures 19mm needing a 18mm screw

Example: if your spine measures 19mm use an 8mm base &10mm extension for a total screw length of 18mm
